Art from The Treasure

The Treasure was the second book in the Rip Squeak series. The story of pirates and ships and sailing the seven seas has always intrigued Leonard. Growing up near the beach in San Francisco is where his love of the sea started. At 18, he joined the United States Merchant Marine and sailed throughout the Atlantic, Pacific, and the Mediterranean for five years. Although the ships he sailed on were not the sail ships of the past, he has long had a fascination for vessels that sailed under the power of wind. After leaving the Merchant Service, he turned to maritime art, painting the sea and both modern and ancient vessels that sailed them. Creating the images for this book was a special treat for the artist.
