Rip Squeak is dressed for adventure and standing by a race car in the Toy Room.
In his first painting for the Rip Squeak series, Jim Kosvanek has stayed true to the color palette from earlier Rip Squeak images like “The Toy Room,” where “The Racer” is set. The now familiar ball and teddy bear anchor this piece in the toy room, where much of the action takes place. The viewer gets a sense of scale from the toys in the background and the jacks in the foreground. The incredibly detailed toy car looks real enough to drive, which Rip Squeak looks prepared to do!
This image was released to coincide with the 2007 Concours d’Elegance. First conducted in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is often said to be the world’s premier celebration of the automobile. Only the most beautiful and rare automobiles are invited to appear on the famed eighteenth fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links each year, and connoisseurs of art and technology congregate to see them.
