Rip Squeak

Rip Squeak is a character who's greatest desire in life is to become a great adventurer. He is anxious to learn and experience new things. He has an innate cleverness and is therefore a good problem solver, a skill that comes in very handy as the stories progress. Rip is also very loyal to his family and friends and very protective of his little sister Jesse. He is compassionate and introspective, a staunch supporter of right over wrong.

From the time that Rip and Jesse meet Abbey and Euripides, Rip goes from a somewhat quiet life, with only his little sister, his parents, and his imagination to keep him company, to an extraordinary life full of adventure and discovery. Rip had once thought of himself as cautiously curious, but as he becomes better acquainted with his friends he becomes more outgoing and daring doing things that he would never have expected he'd do.

 

Jesse Squeak

Jesse is complex because of her unpredictability. She appears all innocence and sweetness, but she has an underlying sense of street smarts and determination that she comes by naturally. She is wide-eyed, curious, and bright. She can be very childlike and very adult at the same time. She appears shy at first, but she's actually very outgoing - in some ways, more so than her brother Rip. Jesse becomes more talkative as the story progresses and says what she thinks. She is cautious one minute, then somewhat impetuous the next. Jesse can go from scared to brave and back again in a flash. She shows extreme emotions, but is always quick to forgive and she recovers from scares or disappointments almost instantly. She looks up to her big brother Rip and she adores Abbey and Euripides, who she thinks of as older siblings.

 

Abbey

Abbey was always different from her brothers and sisters, not a typical cat, especially when it comes to her culinary tastes! She would much rather munch on popcorn than on her mice friends, Rip Squeak and Jesse. She is very gentle, with a mind of her own; very loyal to her friends and determined to follow her convictions, even if it means exclusion from other cats. She is not swayed by the status quo.

Of the four main characters, she is the most cautious, but she was also been known to throw caution to the wind when it means saving someone from harm. Abbey is distressed over the separation from her family, but her friendship with Rip, Jesse, and Euripides becomes her salvation. Her new friends become her family and she loves to make them happy, even if doing so will get her wet or dirty. Although Abbey is the quietest of the bunch, she is always the one to come up with an idea for an adventure.

 

 

Euripides

Euripides is a character all his own and can often upstage his young friends, but that is part of his charm. His good heart, fun-loving and gregarious nature are enlightening and add a dimension of fun and magic to the lives of his friends. His worldliness gives Rip, Jesse, and Abbey a lot to ponder and a desire to discover and experience new things. Euripides is an artist, teacher, and mentor, particularly for Rip.

Of course, Euripides is a born actor and has a love and flare for drama that he willingly shares with everyone. He has a costume for every possibly occasion and is probably the best-dressed amphibian you will ever meet. Although his past has yet to be mentioned in the stories, he received his theatrical training on the London stage (amphibian version), and now performs at a venue near the pond. Euripides is the older, wiser character of the four, but he still allows the others to make discoveries on their own, and even learns a thing or two from his new friends.
